Welcome To The Summer Of Morris

Today, Sat Dec 1st 2007, is the very first day of the long awaited for 'Summer of Morris.' I have decided that this summer, ie. the next three months, I will attempt to achieve many of the things that I've always wanted to do but never got around to as well as work towards some goals that I have recently set for myself.

Typically I'm a very obsessive person, at least I have been since I finished high school in 2004. At any one time I'll have a range of 'obsessions' (as my dad calls them) or hobbies/ interests (as I call them) that I spend my time rather obsessively pursuing. Usually my motivation for these interests is disproportionately high at the beginning but then tends to fall off rather quickly which usually results in me moving on from that interest. During this summer I hope to be able to stick with my obsessions for the long run so that I can actually achieve something great.

My Goals

My list of goals is quite extensive because I have come to the realisation that with each goal added, the additional effort required to achieve each goal diminishes. My goals range in nature from mental to physical with a number in between. Click here for a full list of my goals.

Methodology

My basic methodology is to have a plan in place for everything. I'll do research and formulate a plan to achieve each and every goal. Another reason why I realised that having many goals would be a good idea is because I can use one goal to achieve the other and hence lessen the total work. For example, two of my goals are: to stop the bad habit of finger nail biting and to improve my card manipulation skills. My methodology here is to carry around a deck of cards with me everywhere I go and if I feel the need to bite my fingernails, I'll distract myself by getting out the cards and practicing some tricks.

This Blog

I intend to use this blog as a form of motivation and documentation in achieving my goals. I'm going to spend some time each day planning and writing the plan in the blog and then reflecting on the day past.
